Solar lighting with its lower intensity makes for perfect ambient lighting. Solar lights are reasonably priced and won't add anything to your electric bill. Also string lights work very well as ambient lights. The different moods created by ambient lighting are fun to play with. Experiment with different schemes until you find something that suits your tastes.
